Artist Spotlight: Juniper and Moss Artistic Designs
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
“I have been a local artist for many years studying in both paint and sculpture. I live and grew up in a small town called Ardrossan. Close to Edmonton Alberta. I am a member of the Sculptors Association of Alberta and have participated in many gallery shows and art festivals. I have taken a fine art approach to my moss artwork and blend my experience in painting and sculpting with moss to create pieces.”
Juniper and Moss Artistic Designs was born out of a desire to share the beauty of nature with others. While creating professional art portfolios, Jennifer recognized not only her love of being creative but her passion for nature. This passion stemmed from growing up on a farm where she was able to explore the beauty of nature everyday with her family.
Foraging for wild edible and medicinal plants with her grandmother was a core memory that has never left her. When she moved into the city, she truly missed being able to be immersed in nature every day. She then began to create artwork using natural materials such as sustainably sourced moss, bark and fungus.
This allowed her to bring nature into her home in a meaningful way. Recently her lifelong dream of having her own acreage came true. She now lives near Elk Island National Park with her husband and two growing boys.
Jennifer is proud to share her love of nature with you by creating stunning artwork out of materials foraged from her acreage and sustainably sourced preserved moss, ferns and florals from North American companies.
